The People Behind the Paws

Meet the dedicated team bringing lost pets home.

Carmen Brothers

The calm behind the search. The strategy behind the recovery.

Founder, Lost Pet Recovery Specialist & K9 Handler

Carmen Brothers is the founder of Professional Pet Trackers and one of the nation's most recognized experts in lost pet recovery.

With over a decade of hands-on field experience, Carmen has helped reunite countless families with missing pets across the United States. Known for blending scent-specific K9 tracking, advanced recovery strategy, and deep expertise in lost pet behavior, she has built a reputation for turning chaos into clear action when every moment matters.

At the heart of that mission was K9 Magic—the founding dog of Professional Pet Trackers—whose nose first led the way. Magic helped shape the very foundation of Carmen's recovery philosophy, proving early on that scent, strategy, and behavior-based recovery could change outcomes for lost pets and the families searching for them. That legacy continues to guide every search today.

Her work has been nationally spotlighted through National Geographic Wild's Trackers and featured in numerous media outlets for her success in recovering lost dogs, cats, and other companion animals in even the most difficult circumstances.

From her home base in West Virginia, Carmen now leads a nationally trusted recovery team alongside K9 Finley and K9 Trix, bringing hope, strategy, and proven results to families when they need it most.

Kelly Jones

Where hope meets strategy.

Humane Trapping Specialist & K9 Handler

Kelly Jones' passion for lost pet recovery began more than 30 years ago, after experiencing the heartbreak of losing her own two dogs. That deeply personal loss became the foundation for a lifelong commitment to helping other families avoid the same pain, turning compassion into one of the most trusted trapping and containment skill sets within Professional Pet Trackers.

For the past 10 years, Kelly has worked side by side with Carmen, bringing invaluable humane trapping knowledge, containment strategy, and recovery insight to some of the team's most complex cases. Her ability to read behavior, understand pressure points, and design safe containment plans has helped guide countless successful reunions throughout the region.

What began as a passion for trapping strategy has naturally evolved into the next phase of her journey: learning to track and trail with her own dog, K9 Harper. This combination of decades-long trapping expertise and growing scent-specific field work makes Kelly and Harper an incredibly dynamic team with a unique edge in lost pet recovery.

Kelly has also accompanied Carmen to advanced seminars in Troy, Texas, where they trained with Team Texas, a nationally recognized search-and-rescue organization known for partnering with groups such as the United Cajun Navy on large-scale response operations. Exposure to this caliber of SAR training has further sharpened Kelly's recovery instincts, field strategy, and commitment to continued growth.

Today, Kelly and K9 Harper are an undeniable asset to Professional Pet Trackers, blending seasoned trapping wisdom with emerging K9 trailing skills. Their dedication, passion, and momentum make them one of the most exciting teams to watch as they continue to grow within the organization.

John Roth

Calm in the Field. Confidence in the Scent.

Lost Pet Recovery Specialist & K9 Handler

John Roth has been an integral part of Professional Pet Trackers since the spring of 2020, stepping into the field during one of the most challenging times for families and their pets. During the COVID lockdown, John had the unique opportunity to work closely alongside Carmen, traveling throughout the eastern half of the United States and gaining firsthand experience in missing-animal behavior, recovery strategy, and client support during high-stress cases.

That hands-on experience built the foundation for John's calm, methodical approach in the field. He later completed the Missing Animal Response Network (MARN) Field Technician Course, further strengthening his expertise in scent-specific recovery work and lost pet behavior analysis.

John's original tracking partner, K9 Duck, built an outstanding record of successful recoveries and became a trusted part of countless reunions. Today, K9 Goose carries that legacy forward, building an impressive career of his own while assisting lost pet searches throughout the Mid-Atlantic region. Together, John and Goose bring steady leadership, thoughtful strategy, and unwavering dedication to every family they serve.

Megan McDaniel

The First Voice of Hope in Lost Pet Recovery.

Director of First Impressions & Recovery Strategist

Megan's journey with Professional Pet Trackers began as a client herself when her own cat, Milo, went missing and was ultimately recovered with the assistance of K9 Rose. That life-changing experience gave her firsthand understanding of the fear, uncertainty, and emotional weight that lost pet families carry—and inspired her to dedicate herself to helping others through those same moments with clarity, compassion, and hope.

To say Megan is a people person would be an understatement. Her outgoing personality, deep love for animals, and remarkable ability to stay calm under pressure make her one of the most valuable members of the Professional Pet Trackers team. As our Director of First Impressions, Megan is often the very first voice a client hears when they reach out for help, and the reassurance she provides in those first moments can completely change the trajectory of a search.

Known for her compassion, patience, and natural ability to calm overwhelmed pet parents, Megan helps families move from panic to strategy. She provides immediate guidance, practical next steps, and case-specific support while carefully evaluating each situation to determine the most effective recovery plan. When a case does not require a tracking dog or drone deployment, Megan steps in with behavior-based consultations, using her growing expertise in lost pet behavior analysis to guide clients step by step toward reunification.

Her ability to assess missing pet patterns, interpret behavioral shifts, and provide highly accurate consultations has helped successfully reunite countless lost pets without the use of K9 tracking or drones, proving that strategy and emotional leadership are just as powerful as boots on the ground.

Actively involved in the Missing Animal Response Network, Megan continues to deepen her understanding of lost pet behavior and recovery science. Megan is the steady presence clients rely on from first contact through the moment their pet is safely home.

Thermal Drone Ops

Steve Summers

Eyes in the Sky. Hope on the Ground.

Thermal Drone Recovery Specialist

As a key part of Professional Pet Trackers' Drone-Assisted Operations team, our thermal drone operator provides critical aerial intelligence during lost pet recoveries, helping transform uncertainty into actionable strategy. Using advanced thermal imaging, live aerial mapping, and real-time visual confirmation, he is able to quickly identify heat signatures, monitor movement patterns, and support containment plans in terrain that may be unsafe or inaccessible by foot.

With a sharp eye for detail and a deep understanding of lost pet behavior and movement corridors, he does far more than simply "fly a drone." Every deployment is focused on reading the environment from above—wood lines, creek beds, ridge systems, field edges, and travel corridors—to determine where a lost pet is most likely bedding, moving, or circling.

His ability to provide live search intelligence, thermal confirmation, and aerial overwatch allows the ground team to make faster, smarter decisions while reducing unnecessary pressure on the pet. Whether assisting K9 teams, scanning large rural properties, or covering difficult mountain terrain, he plays a vital role in bringing pets safely home.
